Frightened Rabbit pull out of Belladrum

FRIGHTENED Rabbit have apologised to fans who bought tickets for Belladrum Festival after they pulled out of the Highland music event.

The Selkirk five-piece were due to appear at Beauly in August in front of 10,000 music fans but cancelled after being asked to support Death Cab For Cutie on their tour of the US.

The group told fans: “We are sorry to announce that Frightened Rabbit will be unable to play this year’s Belladrum Festival. We were offered a tour of the US that we simply could not turn down.

“We are very disappointed not to play this year but we hope you understand our decision.”

Frightened Rabbit’s withdrawal from the Inverness-shire festival has been criticised by fans on social network site Facebook.

One comment described the decision as “rubbish”, while another supporter said she was “heartbroken”.

Another said: “All the best for the American tour, but this is a bitter pill to swallow”.

Frightened Rabbit will join Death Cab For Cutie in the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on July 18 for the tour, which ends in Morrison, Colorado, on August 23.

The band, Scott and Grant Hutchison, Billy Kennedy, Andy Monaghan and Gordon Skene perform at Rockness next month.
