Campaigners opposing the proposed closure of 10 sheriff courts across Scotland, including Peebles and Duns, gathered outside the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday.
The protest, organised by solicitors, coincided with justice secretary Kenny MacAskill giving evidence to the parliament’s justice committee on the proposals.
Should the committee reject the Scottish Court Service plans, a vote will be taken by the whole parliament.
The Scottish Court Service has put forward the closure scheme in an attempt to make substantial savings from its budget. The justice committee is expected to vote on the proposals at a meeting on June 11.
