Festival’s new features praised

May I use your columns to pay tribute to the organisers of this year’s Yetholm Festival.

As always, the festival included some highly-popular events, but this year there were a number of innovations.

I particularly welcomed the staging of a well-produced short play, followed by a concert, on the Thursday before the official start of festival week. This successfully combined the elements of fun and culture. Like many others, I hope it will become a regular feature of future festivals.

I should also like to extend my congratulations to the Bari Gadgi, Daniel Blackburn, and Bari Manushi, Kim Fleming, both of whom have performed impeccably and are a credit to the village.
