THE Wynd, named last month as one of Britain’s favourite small theatres by the Sunday Telegraph, welcomes Edinburgh-based Arkle Theatre Company with their new production An Experiment with an Air Pump.
The award-winning play by Shelagh Stephenson arrives in Melrose for two shows on Friday, April 22, and Saturday, April 23.
The story begins in 1799 with man of science Joseph Fenwick as he prepares to welcome a new century by excluding women from learning.
But 200 years later, talented geneticist Ellen discovers human remains under her kitchen as she prepares to move out to start a new job.
A spokesperson for the Wynd said: “With its blend of significant themes shot through with sparkling dialogue, the production promises an evening of total entertainment.
“The Wynd is delighted to be linking up with Kelso-based Red Shed Tickets for the ticketing of this show, in the wake of their success with Firebrand’s Being Norwegian production in March.”
Tickets cost £12 (£10 concessions) and can be booked at www.redshedtickets.com or phone 08432 898 555. Both performances begin at 8pm.
