Student’s cover story

Borders College graphic design student Carola Bottcher has designed the cover for a new book, Tumour Rumour.

Kathleen Mansfield from Peebles was diagnosed with cancer in October 2013 and took to writing every day, allowing herself to explore her regrets, hopes and joys in life. From these, her book Tumour Rumour has now been published, and she hopes it will support other cancer patients and their families.

Kathleen approached her friend Carola to design the cover, and after reading the manuscript, Carola came up with a range of possibilities.

Once the creative aspects were decided, Carola, with some advice from her fellow students and tutor, produced the cover, which is fun and compliments the content.

Profits from the book will go to the Maggie’s Centres.

The book is available from the Maggie’s Centre, Edinburgh, Whitie’s bookshop and the Crystal Shop, both Peebles, or from Kathleen –
