It’s official – Borders College is the “best in Scotland” after new data put it top of the country’s best-performing educational establishments.
This is the sixth year in succession the college, with campuses in Galashiels, Newtown St Boswells and Hawick, has been one of the top performers for student success. And this is the second time Borders College has held the number one spot.
A delighted college principal, Liz McIntyre, says ensuring students have the best possible chance of success has been the priority.
She said: “We aim to do this by providing excellent teaching, a high level of tailored student support, combined with great facilities and a hugelypositive student experience.”
The latest figures were released by the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) and comprise learner success data from all of Scotland’s colleges for 2013/14.
Borders College had the highest student success rate of any college in Scotland for further education, the second highest rate for higher education students at college, the top marks for learners with disabilities and the highest rate for learners in a second or subsequent year of their course.
Local MP Michael Moore this week paid tribute to Borders College’s students and staff.
He said: “It’s a great achievement and goes to show the college is doing an excellent job in teaching and training our young people, who in turn are rising to the challenge.”
