MORE than 30 local businesses and people have donated to a silent auction to aid rescued donkeys.

The Scottish Borders Donkey Sanctuary is holding the auction at the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel tomorrow (Friday) from 7.30pm, when there will also be refreshments and music from Kelso Folk Club and Riddle Fiddles.

Volunteer fundraiser Kate Macinnes said: “With our ever-increasing number of vulnerable donkeys we need to renovate and expand our winter stabling facilities to ensure that if we get another hard winter, we have plenty of warm, dry accommodation”
