COFFEE MORNING:There will be a coffee morning in the village hall on July 7 in aid of hall funds.


Weather: In Denholm, 141mm (5.64in) of rain fell during June, with one of the wettest days being the 8th, Hawick Common Riding, when 17mm was recorded. Temperatures were low for the time of year with the mercury only hitting a high of 19C last Thursday.


AGM: Jed Valley Community Council’s annual general meeting will be held on July 10 in Edgerston Village Hall.

Team Martin: Kath and the team are grateful to all, including Jed Thistle Rugby Club for use of the pavillion, who supported the wine and pudding weekend which raised £1,309. The cash will be split between the Teenage Cancer Trust and Race for Life.


COFFEE MORNING: The next monthly coffee morning and sale in aid of village hall funds will be held in the hall on July 7. Anyone with anything to sell is invited to turn up, take a table and give a small donation to hall funds.

POETRY COMPETITION: The annual Morebattle primary school competition to commemorate village poet Robert Davidson (1778-1855) has been decided by judges Alastair Turnbull, Jim McGgregor and Eileen Woodward. Results – 1 (silver cup and book token), Ruadhan Scott; 2 (book token), Susie Thomson; 3 (book token), Daniel Ralston. All three competition winners’ poems will be displayed at Morebattle and District Horticultural Flower Show.
