Dere Street entertain

Borders group Dere Street, entertain at Yarrowford Village Hall on Saturday, April 30.

The band, pictured above, are multi-instrumentalists, playing a mix of original and traditional music from Scotland and north-east England.

Gary Smith played with club bands in his native north-east before moving to Selkirk during the late 1980s.

Keith Leisk, raised in Perthshire, is a former pibroch champion and veteran of several grade one pipe bands. He has played with local Celtic band Chrysalis with whom Gary also occasionally guested.

Wullie Mabon is a Selkirk lad and has played keyboards with several local rock bands. He met Gary when they joined forces a few years ago to develop a stage set with Selkirk Pipe Band.

The Souter has some classical training, with musical roots in orchestral playing.
