WORLD-FAMOUS DJ Dave Pearce is set to light up the Borders clubbing scene this Easter.

The BBC Radio 1 legend will head the line-up at Move Music Venue in Galashiels on April 22.

Pearce has recently confirmed the date, playing to the first Hard Kandy night this year, in what is believed to be his first visit to the Borders.

Perhaps best known for his Dance Anthems show on BBC Radio 1, which ran for an impressive 11 years, he is also popular for his euphoric style of uplifting trance and hard dance and can claim to be one of the most in-demand DJs in the UK.

Pearce can often be found doing sets at some of the most popular clubbing venues in the world, including the famous Eden nightclub in Ibiza. In the past few years, he has been at events from Bangkok through to Mallorca, Zante, Corfu, Kos, Gran Canaria and Cyprus, just to name a few.

Former Galashiels resident, Clarkie Millar, aka DJ Art Newman, is the brains behind the night. He said: “The stage is set for what will undoubtedly be the dance event of the year.

“Dave Pearce is one of the world’s best-known DJs and we are delighted he has accepted our invitation to come to the Borders.”

Clarkie himself is no stranger to the limelight, having played at some of the biggest gigs in the country, including Colourfest 2010 and Tiesto (Scotland) 2009/10,

He has also been responsible for bringing other big name DJs to the region, most notably BBC Radio One DJ Judge Jules who came to Galashiels in July 2009.

With the big name DJs having such demanding schedules, it was little wonder that Clarkie was excitied about the arrival of Pearce at the Galashiels club.

He said: “This is the chance for people in the Borders, who normally have to travel outwith the area to see the biggest names in the music industry, to catch him live on their own doorstep.”

Pearce will be supported on the night by Hard Kandy resident Dave Nelson and local DJs Tristan Nye and Horz.

Tickets are priced at £10 and are available from www.borderevents.com
