Police are appealing for witnesses following an attack on a 39-year-old woman in the Langlee area of Galashiels on Saturday evening.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11am on Sunday, 31 January, police received a report that a 39-year-old woman had been assaulted in Langlee, Galashiels.

"The incident took place between 8pm and 9pm on Saturday, 30 January, on what is known locally as the 'Mushroom Bridge'.

"Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing."

The bridge, which gets its nickname from its shape, spans the Borders Railway and the Gala Water, and connects the Langlee estate wit h the so-called “Black Path” and on to Netherdale.
