West Linton drink-driver given 15-month ban after admitting being almost six times limit

A man convicted of driving while almost six times the legal alcohol limit has been banned from the road for 15 months.

Adrian Gaisey, 45, pleaded guilty to committing that offence in West Linton on the afternoon of November 15.

Selkirk Sheriff Court was told that the overly cautious way Gaisey was driving his vehicle prompted concerned onlookers to call the police.

When officers tracked him down to his home in the Peeblesshire village’s Alice Hamilton Way, he gave a breath-alcohol reading of 129 microgrammes, the legal limit being 22.

As well as being banned, Gaisey, described in court as a self-confessed alcoholic, was fined £270.
