Three for Selkirk court after drug swoops in Peebles and Jedburgh

COCAINE with a street value of £9,000 has been seized by police in a raid on property in Bountrees, close to Jedburgh town centre, writes Bob Burgess

A 31-year-old man is being held and due to appear at Selkirk Sheriff Court today.

A 27-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man were arrested and released and will appear in court later.

Police say the swoop was intelligence led and in addition to quarter of a kilo of Class A cocaine, officers also seized drugs paraphernalia, a three figure sum of cash and personal quantities of cannabis.

Saturday’s Jedburgh raid was followed by another intelligence-generated swoop on property in Bridgegate Court, Peebles on Sunday.

Lothian and Borders Police say they uncovered a cannabis cultivation operation and seized around 80 plants and herbal matter with a potential value of £35,000.

Two men aged 32 and 31 were arrested and are due to appear before the sheriff at Selkirk today.
