High Buckholmside in Galashiels.

Lee Dickson, 25, of Bannerfield Drive in Selkirk, appeared from custody at Jedburgh Sheriff Court and pleaded guilty to that theft, committed on Monday.

The court heard that Dickson knew the woman involved and had heard that she had that amount of cash in her purse.

His £500 haul was recovered in full after he was detained by the police nearby.

Sentence was deferred until January 27 as Dickson has a community payback order review hearing scheduled for then.

He was granted bail in the interim.
