Money stolen during Hawick supermarket break-in

A four-figure sum of money was stolen during a break-in at a Borders supermarket yesterday, March 8.

Three masked burglars made off with that haul after forcing their way into Hawick’s Morrisons supermarket at around 1.30am.

All three were dressed all in black and were wearing black gloves and balaclavas.

They are reported to have headed to Earl Street afterwards then made a getaway in a hatchback car.

Inspector Stephen Granger, the officer leading the investigation into the break-in at the West Yorkshire-based chain’s Mart Street store, said: “We are appealing to members of the public who may have information in relation to the break in at Morrisons supermarket.

“After stealing a quantity of cash, the men left the store and headed in the direction of Earl Street, where they got in a dark-coloured hatchback vehicle and drove off.

“Although this happened during the night, we are appealing to anyone who may have seen any suspicious behaviour in the area.

“I would also ask those who have any dashcam footage that will assist with our investigation to get in contact with officers.”

“Police Scotland can be contacted on 101 quoting incident number 0227 of March 8.”
