A man was left needing hospital treatment after being attacked outside a pub.
The 49-year-old was set upon by three other men at around 1.40am on Sunday, September 11, outside the County Bar, in High Street, Peebles.
According to police, the man was assaulted after taking issue with the other men about their behaviour towards his wife in the bar.
He is said to have sustained serious facial injuries in the attack and was taken to Borders General Hospital in Melrose for treatment, and he was still being tended to there today.
Officers say they are pursuing a positive line of inquiry, but they are keen to speak to any further witnesses to the incident.
Detective constable Callum Peoples, of Galashiels CID, said: “The victim has sustained a number of painful injuries to his face during the attack, which we believe was witnessed by a number of people.
“We are actively pursuing various lines of inquiry to trace those responsible, and anyone with information relevant to this ongoing investigation is asked to contact police immediately.”
