SUSPECTED cocaine dealer Christopher Manwell has been released on bail after appearing in private at Selkirk Sheriff Court, writes Bob Burgess.

The 29-year-old from Jedburgh was arrested on Saturday when police raided property in the town’s Bountrees.

Police said they seized a quarter of a kilo of the Class A drug as well as personal quantities of cannabis and drugs paraphernalia during Saturday’s swoop.

Manwell made no plea or declaration during a brief appearance before Sheriff Kevin Drummond at Selkirk on Monday and the case was continued for further examination.

Lothian and Borders Police say a 27-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man will appear in court later as a result of the raid.
