Galashiels 34-year-old given unpaid work order for being involved in dealing cannabis

A 34-year-old man has had a night-time home curfew imposed for the next nine months after admitting being involved in supplying cannabis.

Steven Jackson, of Galashiels, pleaded guilty at Selkirk Sheriff Court to committing that offence between March 30 and May 18 last year.

He has been ordered not to leave his Beech Avenue home in Langlee between the hours of 7pm and 7am.

Fiona Hamilton, prosecuting, said £1,051 in cash was found in his home during a police search, along with items associated with dealing drugs.

A haul of almost 100 grammes of cannabis, said to have a maximum street value of £1,225, was seized.

Defence lawyer Robert More said his client had been a habitual drug user and that had led to him becoming involved in supplying it too.

However, he insisted that Jackson is no longer involved in drug dealing.
