Earlston 22-year-old given unpaid work order for breaching court directive

A 22-year-old man breached a court order by being in Earlston’s Haughhead Road on December 27 and contacting his mother and sister.

Domenyk Taylor appeared from custody at Selkirk Sheriff Court and pleaded guilty to committing that offence.

Depute fiscal Fiona Hamilton said the accused arrived at the address looking for a phone-charger but became abusive later on.

She added that the sister went upstairs and contacted police, and when officers arrived they found him in the property’s back garden.

Defence lawyer Mat Patrick said his client insisted there had been no argument and he had been there only to pick up a barber’s kit his father had bought him.

Sheriff Peter Paterson imposed a community payback order on Taylor, of Earlston, involving 40 hours’ unpaid work.
