Those spoken to and identified as being involved in minor anti-social behaviour will receive a letter home in the coming week to highlight this to their parents

A police spokesperson said: “We understand that this is an extremely challenging time for everyone and in particular for youths who want to spend some time with their friends. Whilst the majority of those we engaged with were well behaved, unfortunately officers had to deal with small pockets of disorder largely driven by the consumption of alcohol.

“We would encourage youths to enjoy their recreational time in line with the current guidance provided by the Scottish Government and to do so whilst being respectful of their local community and its residents.

“We would encourage parents to be intrusive of their children’s whereabouts and set sensible curfews on when they can be expected home.”
