DETECTIVES have confirmed that they treating the death of a man in Hawick as suspicious, writes Bob Burgess.
The body of 43-year-old Christopher Swailes was found by police inside property on Liddesdale Road in the Stonefield area of the town on Monday.
Yesterday police were unable to say if foul play was involved but this morning they confirmed their are suspicious circumstances.
A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police at force headquarters in Edinburgh said: “Detectives believe this to be an isolated incident and are following a positive line of enquiry.”
He added: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and anyone who say anything suspicious in the area is asked to contact us immediately.”
The body of Mr Swailes was discovered at around twenty minutes to eleven on Monday morning.
The immediate area around the scene remains sealed off. Forensic experts and a dog team have been involved in the investigation and door-to-door enquiries are taking place.
