Bizarre theft of 3,200 trees from Heriot farm leaves police looking for witnesses

MORE than 3,000 trees have been stolen from a farm in Heriot.

Thieves removed 3,200 mixed broadleafs saplings between May 23 and 25 at Nettling Flat Farm.

Police are now requesting information from members of the public on the bizarre robbery.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: “We would like to speak to anyone who noticed anyone acting suspiciously, or who has any information which could lead to the identification of those responsible.

“The quantity of trees stolen means it was likely two or three people rather than one person was involved.

“We would ask people to get in contact with us if they have been offered a large quantity of trees for money.”

Anyone with any information can contact Galashiels Police Station on 01896 752222.
