Berwickshire farms hit in spate of thefts

Farms in Berwickshire have been targeted by thieves, with a number of vehicles, quad bikes and power tools stolen during a spate of thefts at the beginning of the week.

Police Scotland is appealing for information following a spate of thefts from farms when theives struck between Sunday, February 14 and Monday, February 15.

A Honda quad bike, registration SF15 PTY, was stolen from a farm in Duns and a quad bike and power tools were stolen from north of Gordon.

A white Transit van, registration ND08 OJV, was also stolen from a garage in the Kelso area, and a second Honda quad bike and power tools were stolen from a farmhouse in Duns .

There was also the theft of a woodchipper between Friday, February 12 and Monday, February 15 from a café in Grantshouse.

Police believe the incidents may be linked, and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Detective Constable Ashley Black, of Lothian and Scottish Borders Criminal Investigation Department, said: “We are not ruling out the possibility that these thefts are linked.

"I would appeal to anyone who has information that will assist these investigations to contact us through 101, quoting reference number 0502 of February 15.”
