Covent Garden beams up live theatre and ballet

The National Theatre Live season continues with Shakespeare’s Coriolanus at the Heart of Hawick on Thursday, January 30, at 7pm.

The searing tragedy of political manipulation and revenge stars Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers) in the title role and Mark Gatiss (BBC’s Sherlock) as Menenius, live from the Theatre’s Covent Garden home.

Tickets are £14 (£12 concessions), available from the Visit Scotland box office on 01450 360688.

Earlier in the week, on Monday, January 24, the Royal Ballet beams Giselle, one of the most romantic and popular ballets, from London’s Covent Garden into the Eastgate Theatre in Peebles at 7.15pm.

“Giselle brings together a mix of human passions, supernatural forces and the transcendent power of self-sacrificing love,” the Eastgate’s Liz Taylor writes. “Sir Peter Wright’s production is one of the Royal Ballet’s most loved and admired, always fresh yet faithful to the spirit of the 1841 original.”

Tickets cost £17 (schoolchildren £10). Contact 01721 725777.
