Concern over slow police response in Peebles

Concern has been expressed over the time it takes police to respond to incidents in Peebles town centre.

On several occasions officers have arrived too late at the scenes of reported disorder.

Lawrie Hayworth, a member of Peebles Community Council, said: “There has been concern over the changes made by Police Scotland and now we hear the police are saying there’s been nothing there where when they’ve got to reported incidents.”

However, community police officer Diane Sorrell replied: “In all the incidents reported we’ve been there in a minute or two at the most.

“There were a few months when we were quite short but we are quite well manned at the moment.”
