THERE will be major disruption on the A7 south of Hawick for the next two weekends with the closure of a two-mile stretch of the trunk road from Mosspaul and Ewesless farm, eight miles north of Langholm.
That section will be closed to all traffic from 7pm tomorrow until 7pm on Sunday and over the same period the following weekend.
According to BEAR Scotland, which maintains the local trunk road network, the weekend closures will minimise disruption to traffic and allow essential resurfacing work to take place.
Signed diversion routes will be in place. Motorists travelling north will be diverted on to the B7201 at Canonbie and back on to the A7 at Hawick via the B6357, A6088 and A698.
The same route will apply in reverse for southbound traffic, adding about 30 minutes to journey times.
Access to Mosspaul Hotel from the north will be maintained at all times.
Bus services should operate normally with vehicles escorted through the works when it is safe to do so, adding around 10 minutes to journey times.
