Chirnside man bids for 24-hour gym in Galashiels

A fitness fanatic wants to open a 24-hour gym in Galashiels, to cater for workers who cannot exercise during the day.

Daniel Cowe has submitted a change-of-use application to Scottish Borders Council for an empty unit at Wheatlands Mill, in a bid to convert the former depot into a round-the-clock fitness centre.

He wants to open Titan 365 gym in unit 2 of the Wheatlands Road premises. In a supporting statement, Mr Cowe said: “Twenty-four hour access is crucial in order to remain current and competitive in this new era.

“It is almost impossible to have a full-time job and a gym membership at traditional facilities where opening hours resemble that of a high-street shop.”
