A special charity screening of 1973’s film of the year, The Sting, will take place at The Heart of Hawick on February 6 at 7pm to raise cash for the Scottish Borders Link of Chernobyl Children Lifeline.
Tickets priced £8(includes a glass of wine) are available from the Heart of Hawick(01450 360680) and also from the charity.
The local link was set up in 2001 and has hosted 108 children and raised more than £50,000 to support the nine summer visits which it has organised since then.
The children come for a month’s visit to enjoy healthy living away from the radioactive climate they live in and to improve their health – medical opinion says that this month’s break adds two years to their lives.
Being a voluntary organisation new members are always welcome. For more details call Fraser Simm on 01578-730297.
