Ceremony of Angel’s Wings in Galashiels

The ceremony of The Angel’s Wings is to be repeated at the Galashiels War Memorial on Friday, November 14 at 7.30pm.

Sincethe phenomenon was first recreated on 11/11/11 there have been calls to repeat this moving and evocative ceremony and see again the Angel’s Wings appearing on the war memorial.

Galashiels Ex-Servicemen’s Pipe Band, Galashiels Town Band and the Langlee Choir will lead the ceremony to remember the war dead.

The timing of the event is centred around the fact that the war memorial clock chimes a few bars of Braw Braw Lads at 8 pm every night. By then, with the streetlighting turned off, the full effect should be visible to those attending.

Alasdair Hutton will again provide a narrative.

Some roads will close between 7.30-8.30pm to allow the silence for an atmosphere of respect and remembrance.
