The Friends of the BGH are holding a ceilidh and supper at The Corn Exchange in Melrose this Saturday from 7.30-11pm in aid of the Margaret Kerr Unit.
The entertainment will be provided by The Gordon Brown Band and tickets (£12.50 including supper) are available from Anne Watson (phone 01896 822082 or email email@example.com) or Sandra Henwood at the BGH Chaplaincy Centre, (01896 826564).
Meanwhile, a Christmas exhibition will be held from Saturday, November 26 to Saturday, December 3 in Kelso’s EPTAS Arts, also to raise cash for the appeal.
Original paintings by Borders artists will be available to buy, while crafts, 3D work and artefacts will also be on display.
NHS Borders already has three quarters of the money required for the palliative care unit and a fundraising drive has been launched in the Borders to bring in the final million pounds.
The Margaret Kerr Unit will be a purpose built in patient specialist palliative care unit at the Borders General Hospital.
It will have eight en-suite single bedrooms, as well as overnight stay facilities for family members, treatment and therapy rooms, a day room and a landscaped garden and courtyard spaces.
