Campaign for Borders Rail (CBR) has broadly welcomed Dutch firm Abellio winning the ScotRail franchise last week.
Chairman Simon Walton said: “The Campaign had been consulted by all five bidders, and while not a party to the franchise decision, it was gratifying to note that many of the important points raised in discussions with CBR were included in the winner’s public statement.
“The Campaign noted of especial importance to the Borders Railway the consideration of integration with other modes of transport, pedestrian access to stations, bicycle conveyance on trains, revised seating configurations and community involvement.”
The franchise winners will be discussed at the group’s AGM in St Peter’s Church, Abbotsford Road, Galashiels at 7pm on November 6. Guest speaker will be Richard Morris, chairman of the Friends of the Settle Carlisle Line.
