The Whole Lot antique and gift centre in Melrose has been saved from closure by its independent antique dealers and traders.

The dealers approached the owner with the idea of proactively assisting with the managing and running of the centre.

The new structure, which will now be called the Melrose Antique Centre, has already attracted nine new dealers to the space and will be home to more than 25 diverse traders.

From fine antiques, furniture, glass, textiles and original paintings to bric-a-brac, vintage clothing and gift ranges, the centre offers an eclectic collection of competitively priced quality pieces under one roof in the beautiful Borders town.

Andy Purves, a director of Adam Purves Galashiels Ltd, which has traded as The Whole Lot at St Dunstans in Melrose for 12 years, commented: “We are delighted the antique dealers approached us with this proposal otherwise the doors would have closed.

“Since the initial discussion the feedback from dealers has been terrific and in a two-week period we have agreed terms with nine new traders and as a result the shop is looking fresh and exciting again. We do have limited space left but anyone interested in taking space should contact us.”

A representative from the antique dealers added: “The dealers look forward to continuing at this ideal venue and also to meeting our customers personally.”

The centre’s opening hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.
