AT their weekly Primestock sale held at Wooler last Wednesday John Swan Ltd had forward and sold 526 lambs and 181 ewes.

Lamb numbers less due to holiday arrangements, vendors left with trade above expectations, more numbers needed for coming weeks.

THE Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart PLC had forward 22 prime cattle, three young bulls, two over 30 month cattle, 5,436 prime lambs and 6,261 cast ewes and rams at their weekly sale at Longtown last Thursday.

A very small show of prime cattle due to the time of year which saw strong bidding throughout and were dearer on the week, topping at 222.5p for a Limousin heifer from J. and N. Blaylock and Son, Hallburn with Charolais to 214.5p also from Hallburn. Limousin bullocks peaked at 200.5p from M. and G.A. Nicholson, The Lake.
