CASH raised at the Lauder Herds Supper earlier this year will go to the widow of a supper supporter.
The raffle at the annual celebratory supper in the Lauderdale Hotel raised £1,000 for the family of the late John Scott, a herd at Ormiston Farm, Hawick.
Mr Scott, a keen supporter of the traditional event, died suddenly last year.
One of the event’s organisers, Dougy Scott said: “John was only in his early thirties and leaves behind a widow and young family.
“A massive thank you must go to local businesses and everyone else who donated prizes on the night and even more so the 136 gents who attended this event and bought the raffle tickets and items in the auction helping us raise this fantastic amount.”
The evening was chaired by Heriot sheep farmer Jimmy Sinclair. The toast to the herds was given by Scott Brown and Peter Lothian replied. Peter Bell gave the toast to the farmers with Alistair Lindsay replying. and Harry Dodds toasted the chairman.
Music came from piper Marc Wilkinson and local musician Mike Whellans.
