Organisers of Scottish Borders Business Month – taking place from October 5 to November 6 – are asking businesses for their input.
The expansion of the programme to a month from last year’s Business Week was prompted by feedback from business people and entrepreneurs, many of whom would have liked to have attended more events last year, but could not due to work commitments.
Phil McCreadie, manager at event organiser Business Gateway, said: “The feedback on last year’s week-long programme was excellent.
“However, it was clear that we needed to expand, to enable more events to take place and also to make it easier for businesspeople to attend more of them too. That’s why we have made it a ‘Business Month’ this year.
“While Business Gateway will run a number of events as part of Scottish Borders Business Month, we would be delighted for other organisations and businesses to come forward with plans for events, large or small, that they would like to run under the Business Month banner.
“We can promote these as part of the overall programme and can also assist with providing booking administration.”
Business Month will conclude with the Scottish Borders Business Excellence Awards 2015, this year being run by Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce.
Nine awards are up for grabs, and more information on these, including how to apply, can be found at www.borderschamber.com.
Councillor Stuart Bell, Scottish Borders Council’s executive member for economic development, said: “Scottish Borders Business Month is a fantastic opportunity for local business people and entrepreneurs to get information on a wide range of topics, network with others and hopefully learn about things which can help their business, whatever their size or sector.
“Last year’s programme was very successful and I am looking forward to the expanded series of events later this year, which will culminate in the Scottish Borders Business Excellence Awards.
“This will showcase the hard work, dedication and innovation of businesses and their staff right across the area.”
