Bid made for back-end tourists

TOURISM bosses have launched a brochure campaign in a bid to woo people into the area over the autumn and winter months.

The glossy 10-page Surprise Yourself publication is a joint venture between VisitScotland and the local council.

It is being delivered to 40,000 households this month and the campaign hopes to attract people who have been to the area before to return and discover more of its attractions.

Economic and development councillor at SBC , Vicky Davidson commented: “This additional push to encourage visitors through direct mail and on-line campaigns is very welcome. The amount and variety of wildlife you can see from our roads is truly surprising, – black grouse lekking in riverside fields to ospreys, blue hares, deer, badgers, ermine stoats and red squirrels are just a few of the unexpected sights visitors will come across.”

Local VisitScotland director Sandi Hellowell added: “We are encouraging more visitors to come and enjoy the region’s beautiful landscape at this time of year. The quirky and more unusual facts related to local areas are being strongly promoted.”
