A fresh yellow (be aware) severe weather warning is in place for the Borders for snow and ice throughout today (Thursday) until 11am tomorrow (December 12).
Scottish Borders Council (SBC) is in regular contact with the Met Office and other partners including Police Scotland to monitor the situation.
Frequent showers will continue to fall as sleet and snow, especially on higher ground, but occasionally down to lower levels too, and temperatures will stay low. As a result there is a risk of some travel disruption.
SBC gritters have been out in force and will continue to work across the region today, tonight and tomorrow morning.
People should tune into Borders radio tomorrow (Friday) morning to check if there are any travel issues and especially to check for any school transport cancellations.
You can also follow SBC on Twitter for updates (www.twitter.com/scotborders) or like us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/sbcouncil), and you can sign up to SBAlert, the emergency messaging service at www.sbalert.co.uk
