Three bouncing babies were born on New Year’s Day at the Borders General Hospital – and all of them were boys.

First up at 4.26am came new Souter Jack Mitchell, of Selkirk, weighing 9lb, 7oz. Then came Sarah Bruce of Reston’s as-yet-unnamed son at 3.05pm, tipping the scales at 7lb, 4oz and Robbie Riddle of Galashiels followed close behind at 4.04pm, weighing 7lb, 5oz.

In our picture, from left, are Jack, Sarah’s son and Robbie.
