Luigi Caterino from Galashiels proved himself to be a cut above the rest across the country

The honour means that Luigi, owner of the Italian Job shop in Galashiels, will now compete against barbers from all over Britain to try and win the coveted national title of Best Barber in Britain.

Scottish Borders Council leader David Parker and Borders MP Michael Moore popped in to see Luigi this morning and celebrate his success.

Luigi said: “I am really delighted to have been crowned the Best Barber in Scotland for the second year running. We provide a full range of barber services at our shop in Galashiels and also have facilities for children and young people.

“It’s great to be recognised in this way, and hopefully many more people will come and try out my award-winning wet shave.”

Mr Moore said: “It’s fantastic that a local small business such as the Italian Job Barber has gained this national recognition and to do it two years in a row is tremendous.

“Local businesses like this are the life blood of the Scottish Borders and it’s great that Luigi provides the services that he does and is supported by so many loyal Borders customers.”

David Parker added: “I am thrilled for Luigi. As a regular customer I know first-hand that he does a great job and the services he provides, and his customer care are absolutely tremendous.

“It’s great that he has won this award for a second time and I will be rooting for him when he goes to the national competition in Birmingham, and tries to become the best barber in the UK.”
