Television crews visiter the mum-of-two’s home in Tweedbank ahead of the competition and filming, held in Devon, in October.

The 40-year-old businesswoman said: “They spotted my designs online and sent me a message asking if I would be interested in taking part in the show and of course I said yes.

“I was tasked with decorating a Christmas-themed cake. I did it in my style so it’s not a traditional-looking cake. There were four of us taking part and it was great fun. It didn’t feel like a competition at all and we had a great laugh.

“The filming they did beforehand was a bit daunting. My kitchen looked like Santa’s grotto and it was only the middle of October.

“I’m a little nervous to see it. I can chat to anybody but I’m worried I’ll come across as a bit dull, because I’m not. “That’s my biggest worry.”

Nicola, who lives in Tweedbank with husband Richard and children Ruby, 10, and Oscar, 6, follows in the footsteps of Jedburgh artist Linda Lovatt, owner of Lovatt Gallery, who won the wreath-making episode of Kirstie’s show last Christmas.
