BBC show returns to the Borders tomorrow

Borderers are being urged to dig out their old valuables and head along to Floors Castle, Kelso, where filming of BBC One's the Antiques Roadshow takes place tomorrow.

Doors will be open to visitors keen to have their household treasures, car-boot sale bargains and family heirlooms valued between 9.30am and 4.30pm, with free entry to all.

It will be the first time the show will have visited the Borders since 2009, when it travelled to author Walter Scott’s home, Abbotsford , near Melrose.

The family event will take place outdoors in the castle grounds which, weather-dependant, could require some of the BBC’s team of 30 specialists moving inside of a marquees.

The program is now inviting Borderers to come along without pre-registration or purchasing tickets however, those wishing to bring with them larger items or those that have an unusual story should contact the team beforehand either by emailing [email protected] or by visiting www.bbc.co.uk/antiquesroadshow

A special castle and gardens ticket is also available to buy in advance or on the day itself at Floors Castle and is priced at £7.50 for adults or £3.50 for children, or free to Roxburghe Card-holders .

Presenter of the show for 10 years, Fiona Bruce, will also be in attendance at Kelso for the 40th anniversary this year as it was in May 1977, in Herefordshire, that its first episode was filmed.

The 18th century castle, which is the family home of Guy David Innes-Ker, the 10th Duke of Roxburghe, has previously been on the silver screen when it was used as a location for Hugh Hudson’s 1984 film Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes.
