Awards to highlight help for the aged

Age Scotland, the national charity for older people, is calling on individuals and organisations in the Borders to apply for the Age Scotland Awards 2012.

The awards will highlight and celebrate the contributions of those in Scotland who have made a significant difference to people in later life.

There are two award categories – The Jess Barrow Award for Campaigning and the Patrick Brooks Award for Partnership Working. The Jess Barrow Award is given to an individual or group who have campaigned on specific issues and effected change to the benefit of older people. The Patrick Brooks Award celebrates individuals, groups or organisations demonstrating effective partnership working in the interests of older people.

Anyone who would like to apply for the awards can download an application form on the Age Scotland website, or phone 0845 833 0200 to request one. The closing date for applications is October 12 and winners will be contacted at the end of that month and invited to attend the charity’s AGM on November 14 in Edinburgh to accept their award.
