Late on Saturday afternoon I picked up a very frantic stray dog. The Scottish SPCA couldn’t or wouldn’t do anything and I was told to phone the police.
The police were helpful and friendly and advised that the dog would be picked up, but as it was Saturday they were already extremely busy.
Finally, at 10.15pm, when most of us are tucked up in front of the TV or out enjoying a night on the town, A. R. C. (Arthurshiel Rescue Centre) arrived to pick the dog up.
Why is it the police have to deal with stray, lost dogs on top of everything else they deal with? Where would they be if it wasn’t for the willingness of A. R. C. to do this job?
