Appeal for witnesses as pensioner is run over in Selkirk town centre

A 71-year-old man was seriously injured in Selkirk yesterday afternoon after being hit by a car in the town’s Kirk Wynd.

Police have appealed for witnesses to a the incident, which happened at 4.30pm on Thursday, December 5.

A silver coloured Seat Alhambra car, driven by a 57-year-old man collided with the pensioner, who was taken by ambulance to the Borders General Hospital where he was treated for a fractured tibial plateau, cracked ribs and cuts.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

Constable Claire White at Selkirk said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this crash to come forward and call us at Selkirk on the 101 number, quoting the reference 2482, December 5. The crash happened in Kirk Wynd, near to West Port.”
