Ancrum school grateful for help

Everyone at Ancrum Primary school would like to say a huge thank you to parents, families and the local community who have helped the school to raise the funds to upgrade our outdated playground.

We started off by applying for an Awards for All Big Lottery Grant which was successful. We received £10,000 from them.

Then we held a keep Scotland Beautiful litter pick which we turned into a sponsored event that raised £569 for the playground fund. This was closely followed by a cheque for £120 from the Spar store in Jedburgh and, most recently, a rag bag collection in school which raised £623.90.

Our parent council has donated £500 and the total has now reached our £12,000 target.

The equipment has now been installed and also we have a new toy shed being delivered, thanks to Colin Robertson, timber merchants. The planters are also looking lovely thanks to a coat of paint provided by Graham McDonald, decorators, Ancrum.
