Ancrum is the final hurdle

A SELKIRK seniors rink is one step away from the Bowls Scotland Championship finals.

The rink of H. Bell, R. Pringle, B. Wallis and J. Gibson defeated St Ronan’s 21-12 to make the Borders District finals at Melrose on Sunday where they will play Ancrum. The winner of the tie will represent the region at the championships in Ayr in July.

In cool conditions, 36 members played the Australian Pairs competition on Saturday, with D. Weir and R. Beattie beating N. Clapperton and J. Fair in the final.

The annual Souter Cup was played for on Sunday, and after a good day’s bowling the Ettrick Forest pair of I. Hogg and R. D’Agrosa defeated H. Bell and I. Bell of Selkirk in a closely-fought final which went to an extra end.
