THE A68 was closed for more than two hours last night (Wednesday) after police were involved in an accident as they responded to a crash near Earlston.
The injuries to the police officer in the late afternoon collision are not thought to be life threatening.
Officers were rushing to the scene of an accident just after 4pm, involving a quad bike and a Volkswagen Golf at the junction of the Westruther B6456 with the A697 Coldstream road.
The 54-year-old local quad bike rider was taken to the Borders General Hospital suffering from a shoulder injury.
The road was closed for two and a quarter hours as police investigated.
