Abbey Consort sing Bach

The Abbey Consort begin their 2012 programme with a performance of Bach’s St Mark Passion next Sunday, April 29 (7.30pm) at Melrose Parish Church.

Abbey Consort has performed Bach’s St Matthew, St John and St Luke passions.

This work was first performed at the Thomaskirche, Leipzig on Good Friday, 1731 and the Melrose performance will be as near to the original t is possible.

Next season’s dates for the choir, under musical director Colin Fox include: St John Passion, (JS Bach), September 2, Melrose Parish Church; Symphony of No 2 Hymn of Praise (Mendelssohn), November 3, St Andrew Parish Church, Kelso; Messiah (Handel), December 16, Jedburgh Parish Church.
