A tasty blonde in Kelso

I enjoyed the vigorous letter about sexism in the March 24 edition of TheSouthern from the landlady of The Cobbles in Kelso, attacking Scottish Borders Brewery’s ad campaign which featured a blonde model clad only in feathers.

A great fan of the excellent Tempest Ales, brewed by The Cobbles in Kelso, I read on with relish. She found her rivals to be “insulting”, guilty of “blatant sexism” and “Neanderthal sexploitation”.

Imagine my surprise, therefore, when I popped in for a pint to see a beer badge, on prominent display behind the bar, advertising one guest ale. Trashy Blonde is made by Dog Brew, which describes its top- selling line as a “statuesque and fruity blonde”.
