A poor view of wind turbines

Last May, acting for the Heart of Hawick Children’s Book Awards, I brought a group of authors from the south to the town to stay overnight for the ceremony.

It was a beautiful afternoon and they were thrilled to stop at the Carter Bar viewpoint to take photographs which I know were sent back on Facebook and Twitter to show that they were in Scotland.

One commented: “I had no idea it would be as beautiful as this.” So sad then that the Scottish Government seems so keen to pepper this iconic gateway to our beautiful Borders with the industrial hardware of wind turbines. Surely a short-sighted policy?
